• Ahoy Matey!

Piraeus, Greece…today I boarded my “yacht” for a two week sailing up the Greek coast onto the Croatian Rivieria and up to Venice and back! I am excited for 2 weeks of utter luxury aboard one of the “Yachts of Seabourn”… I love being able to unpack, relax, and let the captain steer us into gorgeous ports of call along this fabled coastline!

I am thrilled Nichole flew from NYC to join me…last year we did a magical voyage on the uber upscale Regent Seven Seas Mariner and we were hooked on this style of luxury cruising where everything is included and the vibe is more Four Seasons instead of Sheraton!

Boarding the 450 passenger Seabourn Odyssey was a breeze (I got a little over anxious and we showed up at the port at 1130 am, only to have to wait till after 12noon for official boarding!) and immediately we noticed the yacht-like vibe and the totally contemporary & modern tone of the ship! Any memories of yesterday’s disastrous bus ride are melting away as the uniformed staff is ready to wait on us from head to toe…

Generous outdoor lounging areas done up with comfy furniture are perfect for 2 weeks in the Mediterranean! After a great welcome lunch, Nichole was off for a nap and I was ensconced at the aft (rear) pool for an afternoon that Thurston Howell would be jealous of!

Bon Voyage from port as we await sail-a-way aboard the chic “Odyssey”!

  • My day in the sun!

After a late night and much needed sleeping in, the beach in Ibiza was calling my name…
Arriving in town around noon, I dont recognize it from last night…hardly awake, shops and restaurants are just starting to open for the day. You really need to get on a whole other time here!

A quick trip from town, Es Cavallet beach (or “playa” in Spanish) is the hip spot to chill. Blue water, soft sand, more gorgeous people (many nude!), and lots of sangria or cervezas(beer)! I am loving the parmesan spread, fresh bread, and delicious olives as I sip away at my Sangria looking out at the clear blue water with yachts pulling into harbor in the distance.
Gorgeous people frolicking in the sand add to the already gorgeous view!

There are beach chairs and umbrellas available and a restaurant serving up cold drinks and good food.

    Aww…the good life in Espana!

  • Hit by rough seas!

Well not the water…but sometimes plans need to change! I never anticipated any part of this trip being part of any diplomatic or political issues…but it has become part of an international controversy.
Morocco has decided to not allow us to enter their country. This is an Islamic country and they decided at the last minute they did not want to welcome a ship of gay men in!
Well as I have said before, this is a journey to understand local customs and cultures…this culture has decided not to tolerate GAY men…yes this still exists in 2012!
This doesn’t dampen anything, but rather reminds me how lucky I amto live in a part of the world where I am free to travel the globe and live as a fashionably gay man!
Now enough of politics…Malaga, Spain here I come.

  • Walking the plank!

Cruise time…I know you are thinking “cruise” seems awfully un-chic!Well I disagree! I think the key is taking a specialty charter…in my instance it’s a GAY charter…2,000 gay men from allover the world ready to party! They bring in their own djs and entertainers and totally customize the experience. There are charters of all kinds, so check it out!
I am setting sail for the entire Spanish coast including Morocco!
Tonight is dancing on deck and a performance by Kimberly Locke (you will remember her from American Idol). Bon Voyage from Holland America’s newest ship, m/s Nieuw Amsterdam!
